As the iconic leader of the Jam and Style Council, Paul Weller fronted 2 of the most popular British bands of the punk era, influencing legions of English rockers that ranged from the Smiths in the '80s and Oasis in the '90s. Paul Weller has earned the nickname The Modfather, a term which reflects his near lifetime passion for the Sixties cult which has infused aspects of his image and his music. Weller struck out on a solo career in 1992 with the self titled album Paul Weller. Next followed Wild Wood released in 1993. With tracks like Moon On Your Pyjamas and Has My Fire Really Gone Out? Weller was back to his best and fans flocked back to see him. But nothing could prepare him for the phenomenal success of 1995's Stanley Road his almost autobiographical album went platinum and Weller was now at the top of his solo career. The album included the two huge hits The Changingman and You Do Something To Me. Weller continued on with his career releasing Heavy Soul in 1997 and Heliocentric in 2000. Then in 2001 he released Days of Speed the result of his acoustic tour which he played some old Jam and Style Council tracks as well as his solo hits. After this album came 2002's Illumination then his 2004 covers album Studio 150 followed by the 2005 album As Is Now. Weller is still going, and with a new album 22 Dreams scheduled to be released in mid 2008 he shows no signs of stopping!
